Syphilis is a preventable and curable bacterial sexually transmitted infection (STI). The WHO estimates that in 2020, 7.1 million adults between 15 and 49 years old acquired syphilis.

Syphilis can, if untreated, cause serious health issues. Many people with syphilis do not have symptoms or do not notice them. There is a need for rapid detection opportunities to determine treatment before transmission to other persons quickly.
SpiroTact© is in Phase 1 development. This project is designed to show the suitability of the VIPER® platform technology to develop a quick diagnostic test for Syphilis, which will have a significant social impact in Low- and middle-income Countries.
